Almost 70,000 fans turned out for the Manchester United v Nottingham Youth Cup game

Manchester United's youth squad drew 70,000 spectators

The stadium, which hosted the Youth Cup game between Manchester United and Nottingham, saw the hosts win the game.

Youth players from the MJC and Nottingham played host to the FA Cup trophy. The Red Devils youngsters were able to pull out a 3-1 victory. A goal from Manchester United’s captain was answered by his own team’s goalkeeper, his mistake being a missed ball. Then, the game developed in an interesting scenario and already in the 2nd half, “United” showed a decent confrontation.

It should be said that the encounter was not only a “baptism” of fire for the youth squad of “United”, but also a record filling of the stadium. The encounter was an opportunity for Manchester United’s young players to make a name for themselves in the world of big-time football.

The support was at an appropriate level, with the legendary players who had previously taken to the pitch as part of the team present. Apart from the legends, you could also see the players taking part in the current fixtures.

There are two reasons for this frenzied popularity: the Devils hold the record for the FA Youth Cups, all of which have come to 11 victories. It is worth mentioning that in their last encounter in the final in the 2010/11 season, the youngsters were also at their best. Besides the management of the club have set a small price for the entrance to the game -1 pound, all tickets were sold out all and the stadium was bursting with those wishing to look at the game.

I would also like to say that the first record was set at the game against MJ. It happened in March 2007, at the Youth Cup semi-final between Arsenal and the Devils. More than 38,000 people attended the game then.

These young players are particularly noteworthy

Alejandro Garnacho, a 17-year-old who earned a call-up to the national team and played in the main squad. He left Atletico and is now progressing as a young player. This season, it was he who won the Murphy Award – United’s best U-18 player.

The next young player for the Devils is Charlie McNeill. He had previously represented the Citizens, but United were able to poach the forward into their squad.

Joe Hagill is a striker who scores a large number of goals against opponents. Thanks to his play, the club were able to beat Arsenal and Tottenham. 330,000 euros was paid by the team management for the young striker.
